Challenge #4 at Color Me Scrappy!

I can't believe we are already at Challenge#4 !! This time the color palette is something which I almost never use! I never really use pinks in my layouts. This was a very nice change for me.

I made a single page layout of me and my sister and our kids. I cropped an old picture and printed all the photos as Polaroids. I cut out the dollie on Pazzles. I did the dot background using Crafter's workshop template. Some tearing, inking, chalking and voila this is what I ended up with! I love this layout! I gifted this to my sister. I feel very guilty for not including  my elder sister's pics. But, I didn't have any pictures of three of us together! Next time we meet, we need to take more pictures:)

I hope you'll stop by the Color Me Scrappy blog and take a look at what the rest of the Design Team made using these colors as inspiration! The challenge is open until May 31st, 2012. And ofcourse, like always there is a wonderful prize! Go and Check it out! I can't wait to see what you come up with! Thanks for visiting me and leaving comments! I appreciate it!

Project Life: Week 17

Week 17 Project Life somehow took a lot of time! I am having tons of fun journaling. I love writing, I always end up writing a lot more! I hope it doesn't look crowded and my kids and grandkids in the future don't get bored of reading it! Well, we sure are having fun reading it.
I did the regular 2 page spread but added a 6 by 12 insert and stuck photos and did journaling on both sides! It was tough to choose photos and but I think I got the whole week covered pretty good! I added a little more details this week. I added some washi tape, a little flag clip, and a hidden tab with facebook comments on Anurag's photo. I think I am going to do more of the facebook comments and status messages in the future, since it has become a big part of our lives! Sid is liking project life a lot. He loves reading it once I am done! I am sure we are going to enjoy it at the end of the year.

On one side of the 6 by 12, I have scrapped Anurag and Shilpa. She did the journaling and sent it to me by email. I printed it out on vellum and added it to the layout. LOL She said it was almost like exam! She has probably not written like this for a long time. She is a big part of Anurag's life and our's. I want him to remember all this. They make an awesome team.

On the other side of the 6 by 12, I have scrapped the movie we watched last saturday. I have added the ticket stubs and the food bill. LOL we ate a lot! In just one and half hours, we managed to have starters, drink, main course and a dessert! It was yummmy! I took photos of the ticket stubs and the bill and printed it out on a 6 by 4 photo sheet and cropped it. I have seen receipts fade over time, so this way I will always have it in my album!

Well, that's about what I did! I am looking forward to doing the last week's spread soon! I need to work on the thomas layout, DT layout and PL spread! So much to do! Thanks for visiting me today! Have a good week! I am linking this to Mom Creative for the first time!

Washi Tape: Acid Free or Not

I recently got a lot of washi tapes from ebay and another place. They are absolutely pretty and soooo cute! I love the ease of using them. Just stick them on and the layouts look so cool.

I usually test everything new which goes on my layouts. So I started using the Washi tape on my Project life pages, then I remembered I had not tested them! They did say there were acid free and meant for scrapbooking projects. I used my ph tester pen and here are the results. You can see the pen marks on the paper are blue and the pen marks on the tape is yellow. To understand that better....

American Crafters Ph Tester Pen
Criteria for Test
Yellow/Colorless =Bad
Blue/Lavendar=Good

The top ones are all from a particular brand, from Japan. The bottom ones are from Ebay, shipped from China. I no longer feel comfortable using the tapes on my layouts. I am not able to decide if it would be ok to use on my project life journaling cards. I don't know what it is going to do to my pages. I am pretty upset because the tapes are so pretty!! The manufacturer claims they are acid free, but I don't think they are. The test results prove that! I got the pen from Amazon.

I don't think all crafters think on the same lines. Some don't care, Some do. I do want my scrapbook pages to last. I don't want to see them in a bad shape after 5 years. I have heard of pages getting ruined in a matter of 5-6 years because of using non-acid free stuff causing bleeding on pages, yellowing , fading etc...

I am not happy about the result. I loved the look just like the rest of the crafting community. I might just use it on cards for now...till I hear more from the manufacturer. This is just my personal opinion on these tapes.

Challenge # 3 at Color Me Scrappy and an Awesome Prize!

It's time again for a new challenge! Look at the beautiful palette we have got for you this time! The gorgeous blue's and green's :-) So soothing!

I made a two page layout this time based on this color palette. I am loving being on the DT for color me scrappy and participating in these challenges! I would have never picked these colors together but I love the result's when I did! Here is my layout!

I did a lot of doodling this time around! This layout is kinda based on Allison Davis's sketch but I tweaked it a bit and added some different design elements!
